The African Private Capital Association (AVCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Danladi Verheijen, Co-Founder and CEO of Verod, as Chair of AVCA’s Board of Directors, and Ann Wyman, Senior Partner at AfricInvest, as Vice Chair, effective immediately.

AVCA’s 21st Annual Conference in Lagos brought together investors, policymakers and business leaders to champion local capital, scalable solutions and industrialisation. Highlights included keynote speeches from Nigeria’s Trade Minister and Aliko Dangote, and bold calls to harness domestic finance for Africa’s economic transformation and infrastructure development.

AVCA’s fifth VC Summit spotlighted Africa’s evolving venture capital ecosystem, with sessions on growth-stage funding, venture debt, and founder readiness. Held in Lagos, the summit featured insights from Tope Awotona, Nigel Morris, Tosin Eniolorunda and Laurin Hainy, among other leaders, highlighting Nigeria’s central role in driving innovation and scale across African markets.

AVCA and PEVCA have merged to strengthen Nigeria’s private capital ecosystem by combining AVCA’s research and global reach with PEVCA’s local networks. The partnership aims to boost investment, align international and domestic capital, and support fund managers across Nigeria and West Africa.

AVCA has released its 2024 African Private Capital Activity Report, providing insights into the evolving investment landscape across the continent. Drawing on proprietary data across fundraising, investments, and exits, the report affirms the strength and maturity of Africa’s private capital ecosystem despite persistent global macroeconomic headwinds.
