Oxano Capital backs Uganda-based apiculture company

Oxano Capital is pleased to announce the addition of Delta Bee, a bee-processing company based in Mbarara, Uganda, to our portfolio.

About Delta Bees

Delta Bees (U) Ltd is a Ugandan apiculture and agribusiness company founded in 2015 by Abanyu Simon and headquartered in Mbarara. The company operates across the entire beekeeping value chain, providing training, technical support, quality inputs, honey collection, processing, packaging, and marketing under its Delta Bees Honey brand. In addition to honey, Delta Bees produces and markets other bee products, including beeswax, propolis, pollen, and beekeeping equipment. Working with thousands of smallholder beekeepers across Uganda, the company improves productivity, strengthens rural livelihoods, and expands market access for farmers. Through its network of regional branches and collection centers, Delta Bees promotes sustainable beekeeping practices, environmental conservation, and income generation while supplying high-quality bee products to both local and export markets.

Why We Backed Delta Bee?

Delta Bees represents a compelling investment opportunity driven by a scalable business model, strong market position, and measurable impact. Founder Abanyu Simon brings over 19 years of beekeeping experience and has successfully grown the company through organic growth into one of Uganda's leading honey processors. With a reliable farmer supply network, established relationships with supermarkets, hotels, and export buyers, and a recognised brand, Delta Bees is well-positioned for continued growth. Beyond its commercial potential, the company delivers significant social impact through smallholder income generation, green job creation, and the inclusion of 580 refugee beekeepers, with women and youth representing approximately 52% of beneficiaries. For Oxano Capital, Delta Bees exemplifies the type of founder-led agribusiness capable of generating both attractive financial returns and lasting community impact.

From Smallholders to Global Markets

With Oxano Capital's investment, Delta Bees is poised to expand its farmer network, strengthen processing capacity, and accelerate its growth into regional and international markets. Backed by a proven founder, a deeply embedded supply network, and clear execution opportunities across the value chain, the company is well-positioned to deliver both financial returns and meaningful social impact. Beyond business growth, this investment will directly translate into improved livelihoods for thousands of smallholder farming households, greater economic inclusion for women and youth, and the continued protection of Uganda's natural ecosystems through climate-smart beekeeping and agroforestry practices. Every step Delta Bees takes toward scale is a step toward more farmers lifted out of poverty, more families with stable incomes, and more communities with a sustainable and dignified economic future.

Looking forward, we are excited to support Delta Bees' journey, contributing to rural economic development through green job creation, smallholder farmer empowerment, and improved access to high-quality traceable honey across Uganda and beyond. This investment reflects our guiding principle, Auxano, meaning "to cause growth," by fostering businesses that generate lasting value for individuals, communities, and local economies — and in Delta Bees' case, for the ecosystems and natural resources that those communities depend on for generations to come.
