About The Role
AVCA strives to drive, catalyse, and support the sustainability of private capital in Africa. We are seeking an experienced, proactive, and highly organised Marketing & Communications Associate to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.
In this role, you will support and assist in the execution of AVCA’s integrated marketing and communications strategy, strengthening the organisation’s visibility, stakeholder engagement, and brand presence across multiple platforms.
The successful candidate will take ownership of key campaigns and collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments including Events, Research, Training, and Member Services - to deliver impactful communications that elevate AVCA’s brand, profile our members, showcase our thought leadership, and deepen engagement with key stakeholders, industry partners and media across Africa and globally.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to Communications and Marketing Manager, the Marketing and Communications Associate will have the following responsibilities:
Support the implementation of AVCA’s integrated marketing and communications strategy across all business units
Translate complex industry content into clear, engaging communications for a range of audience segments
Lead on the formation and execution of campaigns related to AVCA initiatives, training and broader events, in line with oversight from the Communications and Marketing Manager, ensuring all outputs are brand-compliant and audience-appropriate
Support marketing efforts for AVCA’s research publications and flagship events, including the Annual Conference and Sustainability Summit
Draft and edit high-quality content, visuals and graphics for newsletters, blogs, podcasts, and interviews for social media, and broader stakeholder communications
Develop marketing materials and profile-raising content, with guidance from internal teams, to ensure consistent stakeholder engagement
Ensure timely production and dissemination of all communications outputs, including AVCA’s monthly newsletter, AVCA product/project launches, industry events, and member transactions across the industry
Manage and update digital platforms, including the AVCA website, mobile apps, and content portals, ensuring up-to-date news, blogs, and member information
Take responsibility for the daily management of AVCA’s corporate social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter/X, YouTube), including content drafting, scheduling, and performance monitoring
Own data collection activities to enable internal analysis and reporting on marketing performance and campaign effectiveness
Support internal reporting and communications to AVCA’s Board and Committees to ensure alignment with strategic marketing objectives
Coordinate with media and industry partners to support press outreach and enhance AVCA’s media presence
Prepare speaking notes, briefing materials, and supporting assets for AVCA leadership in advance of interviews and external engagements
Execute tasks aligned with AVCA’s strategic marketing plan and in line with industry trends/requirements under the guidance of the Communications and Marketing Manager
Draft, edit, and coordinate the release of press statements in collaboration with the Communications and Marketing Manager, while maintaining accurate distribution lists
Maintain and nurture relationships with external suppliers including, designers, journalists, printers, and marketing agencies
Success Factors
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a marketing and communications role, with exposure to media relations, branding, and content creation
Confident communicator with excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Proven ability to deliver high-quality content across multiple projects and stakeholders under tight deadlines
Skilled at simplifying and re-purposing technical or industry information for broader audiences, including in press releases and social media
Meticulous attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with colleagues and senior stakeholders
A team-based approach to your work, with an ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Mailchimp, Canva, social media and marketing management platforms, Google Analytics, and website CMS platforms such as Umbraco or WordPress
Knowledge of the African private capital landscape is highly desirable
Experience with Salesforce and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, , Premiere Pro, Audition) is a plus
Working proficiency in French or another relevant language is an added advantage
