Role Description

The Principal will play a key role in sourcing, evaluating, structuring, and executing growth equity investments aligned with Aruwa’s impact and gender-focused mandate. Day-to-day responsibilities include originating deal flow, building and maintaining relationships with entrepreneurs and intermediaries, leading financial and commercial due diligence, and developing robust investment theses and valuation models. The Principal will oversee transaction execution, including negotiation of terms, coordination of advisors, and preparation of investment committee materials, as well as actively support portfolio companies through strategic guidance, performance monitoring, and value-creation initiatives. The role also involves contributing to impact measurement, reporting, and fund-raising activities, and representing Aruwa at industry events and stakeholder engagements in the local and regional ecosystem. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Lagos State, Nigeria.

Candidate Profile

  • 10+ years of relevant private equity / growth equity / venture / principal investing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or accounting is mandatory 
  • Graduate business degree, Chartered Accountant (CA), and/or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and/or MBA designations a plus but not required 
  • Significant experience performing complex financial analysis, modelling, company valuations, and deal completions 
  • Demonstrated end-to-end deal execution experience (origination, diligence, closing, portfolio value creation and exits).
  • Strong knowledge of African markets and networks (founders, investors, sector experts).
  • Sector exposure preferred: manufacturing, clean energy, financial services, healthcare, agriprocessing
  • Strong financial analysis skills (valuation, unit economics, scenario analysis) and investment storytelling.
  • Experience engaging with boards / governance structures and senior management teams.
  • Experience sitting on boards as a voting member

  • Experience leading negotiations with multiple stakeholders and executing a wide range of agreements 
  • Genuine commitment to work with early stage and growth companies to build scalable and sustainable businesses 
  • Aligned interest with the Aruwa Capital vision in building a fund utilizing a gender lens to screen for opportunities and working with companies to deepen diversity, equity and inclusion in order to enhance returns and impact 

Location

Already based in Lagos with local citizenship or work authorisation
