JOB DESCRIPTION
Anza Capital, an emerging venture capital fund focused on early-stage investments, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team.
As the Portfolio Growth Manager you will play a key role within the investment team and will be instrumental in optimizing portfolio performance post-investment. This role is tailored for a dynamic professional who thrives in enhancing investment value, navigating risk, and propelling start-ups toward successful Series A and B funding and beyond.
Responsibilities:
Portfolio Strategy and Execution
Performance Analysis and Reporting: Conduct deep analysis and generate detailed reports to support decision-making and transparency. Set, track, and report on key performance indicators for the portfolio. Actively manage risks by monitoring market trends and making strategic adjustments.
Portfolio Management: Oversee the entire investment portfolio, ensuring alignment with the firm's objectives and risk tolerance. Continuously evaluate and adjust portfolio strategies based on financial analyses and market conditions.
Portfolio Company Development
Portfolio Company Engagement and Support: Serve as a key advisor to portfolio companies, guiding them in areas like operational efficiency and financial structuring. Facilitate introductions and networking opportunities to enhance company visibility and growth.
Onboarding and Value Creation: Guide new portfolio companies from contracting to implementing tailored 100-day action plans. Develop operational roadmaps based on portfolio insights and implement growth strategies for portfolio companies, focusing on expansion, market penetration, and business model optimization to prepare them for future funding rounds.
Exit Strategy Planning and Ecosystem Research
Exit Strategy Identification and Implementation: Identify and plan exit strategies for each portfolio company. Conduct comprehensive research on potential ecosystems and markets for successful exits. Work closely with portfolio companies to align their 100-day action plans and overall growth strategies with these exit strategies.
Market Analysis and Ecosystem Research: Perform thorough market research and ecosystem analysis to identify exit opportunities and trends. Provide guidance to clients and the investment team based on these insights.
Financial Instrument and Portfolio Valuation
Financial Instrument Management: Utilize a sophisticated understanding of various financial instruments to manage and diversify the investment portfolio, enhancing resilience and performance.
Portfolio Construction and Valuation: Maintain a robust and balanced portfolio construction. Regularly conduct portfolio valuations to accurately reflect company performances and market conditions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in investment management, with a focus on portfolio optimization post-contracting.
CFA or other relevant certifications are advantageous.
Strong network in Africa within start-up and innovation ecosystem
Demonstrated excellence in communication, presenting complex information effectively to diverse audiences.
Collaborative spirit, with the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
